Where is smARTarts? How do I get there?

Getting there - Transport and Access Information
We recommend you travel by foot, bike or public transport! There is plenty of public transport to Pine Street Creative Arts Centre and
the Darlington Centre.

Accessibility The office and gallery are on the first floor up a steep set of stairs. The ceramics, painting and drawing, stencil and digital
classes are all in wheelchair accessible studios with wheelchair accessible toilets. Our other studios have limited accessibility. Where
possible our studios have a flexible set up to help accommodate accessibility. Please contact us and discuss how we can ensure you
able to attend the courses you are interested in.

By Bus From CBD take any bus via Parramatta Road, alight at Kinko’s (on Broadway) and walk down Buckland Street. Cross the park
at the end onto Pine Street. The centre is located on the left in a two-storey white building. Along Cleveland St , Bus 352 - alight at the
corner of Shepherd and Cleveland Streets. For buses to the CBD along City Road via Newtown, alight at Victoria Park and walk two
blocks down Cleveland Street to Pine Street. The 352 bus goes along Cleveland Street, stopping near Pine Street (note does not run
on weekends).

By Train
15 minutes walk from either Central or Redfern Stations.

By Ca
r Parking is very limited - and usually for one or two hours only. There are some unlimited all day parking spots in Beaumont Street,
off Cleveland Street. There is a parking station nearby at the Seymour Centre (Cnr City Rd and Cleveland Street – enter Shepard Street , Chippendale).

smARTarts - Who is involved?

smARTarts is a great experience in events management: this year 30-40 young people aged 17 - 30 have been involved in
coordinating the festival. Another great aspect of the event is that it is your festival: smARTarts is created, designed & managed
by the volunteers involved in the event. Like to be involved? Contact Pine Street youth programs Cooordinator, Christie Torrington
on 02 9245 1503 to volunteer as an event coordinator. Volunteer event coordinators work together to plan, design & coordinate all
aspects of the event - so start thinking about what you would like to see, hear & experience on the day & let us know!

smARTarts: Who Benefits?
smARTarts is a quality youth arts experience, the event aims to provide
exposure for young & emerging artists, performers and
events coordinators. smARTarts provides a truly unique festival experience for:
- Volunteer festival coordinators who learn about events management, administration, sponsorship, funding and staging.
- Emerging Artists who gain exhibition experience as well as art, design, web design, promotion & marketing skills. They gain
valuable exposure through exhibition of artwork, live performances, & workshops. smARTarts also receives impressive media
coverage, with over 30 newspaper articles and a channel 7 weather cross showcasing smARTarts talent in 2007.
- Festival participants/audiences who enter competitions and enjoy art, entertainment & other free programs!

What is smARTarts all about?

The aims & objectives of smARTarts are:
- To showcase the diverse creative talents of young people in Sydney
- To provide a forum for young people to express themselves and inspire each other through creative mediums.
- To provide an opportunity for young creative people to collaborate on artistic projects
- To celebrate the nature, diversity and vibrancy of 'youth'.
- To assist young people to form networks & industry contacts in the arts, entertainment, and events industries.
- To provide a culturally enriching youth festival that engages young people and provides them with creative opportunities &
exposure to new artistic pursuits

History of smARTarts
smARTarts has been running anually since 2002. 2008 will be the 6th festival, and some performers & coordinators have been
a part of the festival for many years. Target Group: Young people aged 15 -26 yrs
