Youth Arts and Cultural Festival
smARTarts is an annual youth arts & cultural festival, showcasing creative talent and initiatives of young people in the City of Sydney.
Held as a part of National Youth Week (5 - 13 April 2008), the festival will bring together an ecclectic mix of live music, dance &
roaming performances, an Art & Zine Market, Art exhibition, free creative & environmental workshops and the yourSPACE
Youth Forum.

smARTarts is an arts event held BY young people, for young people, with up to 40 volunteers involved in organising the festival.

smARTarts artSPACE exhibition

Opening Night & Film Screening: 2nd April 6-9pm
With film screenings 7:30-8:30 pm
runs from 1st to the 20th of April 2008

smARTarts: artSPACE is a unique art exhibition dedicated to showcasing the next wave of artistic talent in the City of Sydney.
Fine art submissions in the mediums of Painting, Printmaking, Drawing, Sculpture & photography are welcome. This year,
the smARTarts: artSPACE exhibition will also feature a youth film screening at the opening night on April 2nd.

smARTarts 2008 has 2 great stages featuring a wide range of music & dance performances. Stage 1 will be hosted by MC JR,
this year’s line up will feature live music and performances from talent such as Guava, Headlines, Raise The Crazy, Urban Dance
Centre and Dead Kitten Parade, showcasing and immense and diverse amount of talent. Stage 2 will feature acoustic performances
from talents such as Garth Hodgson, Clare Arnold & Cash.

“the festival had such a great vibe and got us focused.”

This is an unique opportunity to set up a stall and sell your creations at the Art & Zine Markets. For the first time ever we
will feature a Zine Fair featuring cutting edge underground publications & zines by young artists & designers.
Just some of the handmade creations that will be at smARTarts are featured here

smARTarts is also an opportunity for youth to express themselves through more interactive forums throughout the day.
You can get involved in one of our many workshops such as stencil art, giant origami and jewellery. Or participate in a
live mural painting. The smARTarts yourSPACE forum and workshops bring together leading industry professionals in an
interactive and casual setting. The yourSPACE forum provides an insight into different creative industries that is invaluable to
